He is best known for being the oldest son and student of Kung Fu legend Bruce Lee’s teacher Ip Man, the most famous Kung Fu Grandmaster of the 20th century.

Born 1924, Sifu Ip Chun is over 100 years old. He already studied Wing Chun under his father while being a kid and taught what he learned from him worldwide for decades. After having dedicated most of his life to Wing Chun, he recently stopped actively teaching in his seniority. Because of his great effort and many accomplishments regarding Wing Chun, he has been awarded a professorship and doctorate and even attended many TV shows in the Chinese and Hong Kong television as a guest speaker. Grandmaster Ip Chun even played a role in the movies Ip Man Zero and “The Grandmaster”. It is not possible anymore to become a first-generation student under him.

30 years ago, Abbot Venerable Chi Sim began studying Wing Chun directly under Grandmaster Ip Chun in Hong Kong and has been his student ever since. With his permission, Abbot Venerable Chi Sim also obtained the Sifu degree there.

This makes Abbot Venerable Chi Sim the only and oldest first-generation disciple of Sifu Ip Chun that is certified to teach as Sifu in Germany and Czechia.
